Bursary Winners for 2010

At its AGM on 17 June, the Foundation awarded its annual bursaries.  All the candidates impressed the judges, and it was with the usual difficulty that they finally decided how to dispense the available £11,000.  The winners were as follows:

To assist the taking on of a new apprentice:

£2,500 to David Everingham, Picture Restorer – the Historic Houses Association Award

£2,000 to Nigel Barnett, Blacksmith

£3,000 to Don Barker – the combined Freemasons and Merchant Taylors Award

To assist increased skills or knowledge:

£1,500 to Thomas Beeby, Carpenter to assist with travel costs associated with his SPAB William Morris Fellowship

£700 to Darren McLean for a West Dean course on the conservation of historic floors

£700 to Jodie Dodgson, of the York Glaziers Trust for a “Chemistry for Conservators” course.

£600 to Carol Peacock, Archivist, to meet travel costs for an internship at Cambridge's Fitzwilliam Museum

The Consortium also awarded it's annual trophy and a prize of £250, which is given to a student at York College, who shows great potential.  This year this was awarded to the very impressive trainee stonemason, Tom Soare
