Britain's 10 leading conservators, as chosen by their peers

It was reported in the 'Independent on Sunday' that Jim Spriggs, one of our members, has been chosen as one of an elete group of 10 top conservators in Britain.

Jim is head of conservation for the York Archaeological Trust, whose conservation laboratories he funded nearly 30 years ago.  In this role he has managed the preservation of collections from important excavations in Roman, Viking and Medieval York. "Handling objects, and applying carefully researched conservation treatments, still gives me a buzz" says Jim.
