Pearce Bottomley Architects was formed in 1958, having evolved from a merger of three practices with a history dating back to 1888 and is now a medium sized practice comprising architects, technicians, and support staff, offering a dedicated service on a wide range of projects.
Care of historic buildings forms a fundamental part of the the mixed workload. One of the two Principals, Stephen Calvert, is a member of the DAC of Ripon and Leeds Diocese, and the appointed architect to a number of Grade I and II* listed churches in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
The practice has carried out numerous specialist conservation projects: from external fabric repairs and rebuilding of spire at Serbian Orthodox Church, Bradford: re-roofing and fabric repairs at Holy Rood Church, Barnsley and St Mary's Church, Whitby to the sensitive re-ordering of existing buildings such as at Christ Church, Doncaster and St Olave's Church Hall, York.
PBA has received over 20 awards since 1986, including award-winning additions to listed buildings and a new care home at the Hospital of God, Greatham, Hartlepool.
