Purcell Miller Tritton was founded in 1947 and has steadily expanded to 100+ full time staff in London, Liverpool, Norwich, Canterbury, Colchester, Sheffield, Ely and York. The York office is the result of the merger in 2004 with Martin Stancliffe Architects.
The practice is nationally known for its conservation work on historic buildings and for its commitment to scholarship and design excellence. Over the past years we have worked on many well known buildings including the National Gallery, the Palace of Westminster, Hampton Court Palace, Westminster Abbey, St Paul's, Southwell, Ely and Canterbury Cathedrals, the Courtauld Institute Galleries, Ampleforth Abbey and College, Hovingham Hall, Temple Newsam House, Roundhay Park, Leeds, Selby Abbey, Mount Grace Priory and St George's Hall, Liverpool. We have also been entrusted with work on many National Trust properties including Beninbrough Hall, Wordsworth House and East Riddlesden Hall.
In addition to our conservation work, we are also responsible for a number of major extensions to existing buildings, including the major remodelling of the Northern Galleries at the National Gallery, an extension to the London Library, and Weston Park Museum and City Art Gallery, Sheffield. Other specialist fields covered include the preparation of conservation management plans and building condition surveys.
