Iain Broadbent studied at The Royal College of Art and went on to specialise as a Woodcarver. Having worked at the Dick Reid Workshop, he went on to set up his own business in 2005. Iain had a great depth of knowledge and technical skill and a stylistic awareness of period buildings both vernacular and ecclesiastical.
He works closely with architects, designers and specialist manufacturing firms in the making and repair of carved architectural and furniture details. Examples being decorative mouldings and lettering through to coats of arms. In 2015, Iain was invited to lecture on the conservation course at The Architectural Association in London.
Examples of places Iain has done work for include Durham, Ripon and Carlisle Cathedrals, City of London churches, St Andrews Undershaft and St Mary-at-Hill. Lambeth Palace, Marchmont House, Stoke Rochford Hall, The Godolphin and Latimer School and The Theatre Royal, Bath. Locally Iain has worked on many York churches and for The York Conservation Trust.
