Andrew G. Podmore & Son, established in 1968, is a family run firm specialising in the restoration and conservation of antique furniture and internal architectural joinery. David Podmore heads a team of time served craftsmen having extensive experience of caring for, conserving and restoring your, or your clients, valued pieces, undertaking all aspects of repair and refinishing on furniture using traditional skills.
They are working for architects, designers and private clients throughout the UK, who have entrusted them with important commissions within private houses, museums, churches, cathedrals, municipal buildings and large country houses. Another equally important aspect of their work in conjunction with craftsmen joinery and cabinet makers is the polishing of new architectural commissions, e.g. custom made staircases, panelling doors and floors etc, utilising both traditional and modern techniques, ensuring efficient and cost effective finishes, achieving excellent results for the client’s requirements to the highest standard within the available budget.
Their modern purpose built temperature controlled workshops, where visitors are always welcome, consist of separate cabinet and polishing shops with storage areas for ongoing work, there is also an extensive stock of reclaimed and salvaged timber to enable careful choice for replacing missing components and veneers.
