Barley Studio’s award-winning team of conservators, artists and craftsmen provide expertise and technical excellence in all aspects of the conservation and creation of stained glass and associated products: • Conservation and restoration of historic stained glass windows in cathedrals, churches and historic houses. Major projects include the famous Herkenrode windows at Lichfield Cathedral, the unique medieval scheme at St Mary’s Church, Fairford (National Award for Conservation 1998), and the remarkable collections at Longleat and Blickling.

Design and creation of new stained glass windows. Major commissions include All Saints Church, Pavement, York (supported by the York Press Appeal); St Mary’s Church, Sheffield (supported by the Arts Council); Beverley Minster (supported by the Friends of Beverley Minster); Westminster Abbey and the RAF Club, London.

Repair, refurbishment and production of glazing metalwork, from support systems and historic casements to contemporary copper sculpture.

Environmental and mechanical protection. Our site-specific ‘isothermal’ protection and custom-made wire guards can be seen at Lichfield Cathedral; York Minster; Selby Abbey; Southwell Minster; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and the Museum of Fine Art, Boston.

Supply and installation of period style plain glazing for historic settings. Clients include Historic Royal Palaces (Hampton Court), the National Trust (Beningbrough Hall) and independent architects •Consultancy, surveys and reports, for example in international conservation projects at Siena Duomo and St Patrick’s Cathedral, New York.
