Houghtons of York are well established architectural joiners and woodcarvers with a wealth of experience in the manufacture of high quality bespoke joinery and hand carved items. The exceptionally high levels of skill within their workforce enable them to take on a wide range of projects from new- build, through to restoration, conservation, repairs and maintenance. The long established family run company are members of ‘The British Woodworking Federation’ and ‘Master Carvers Association’ the leading trade bodies for the industry and take commissions from clients who include Private Homeowners, The National Trust, English Heritage, Local Authorities, Parish Churches, Cathedrals and Contractors.
Typical projects will range from small repairs and maintenance work through to the manufacture and installation of sash windows, doors, wall panelling, geometric staircases, libraries, oak framed structures, polished furniture, kitchen and bathroom fitments.
The specialist wood carving department of the company produce fine hand carved decorative mouldings, ornament for staircases and chimney pieces, lettering for plaques and the restoration/ repair/replication of period pieces, all to customer’s requirements.
