Native Architects have an outstanding and comprehensive track record in the restoration and refurbishment of historic and traditional buildings with natural materials. We have transformed the use and appearance of listed buildings throughout Yorkshire.

We design buildings that have a low impact on the environment using building products that meet high standards of sustainability. We are experienced in building pathology – an holistic approach to understanding buildings. We have an expert knowledge of how buildings are constructed, used, occupied and maintained and we bring our analytical approach to historic building fabric and new construction in natural materials such as hemp, straw, timber, lime and clay. With increasing pressures to respect the environment and build sustainably confusion often arises over how best to achieve this.

The resultant installation of inappropriate insulation materials and systems can cause failure in new and historic building fabric and results in uncomfortable and unhealthy indoor environments. Solutions can be simple and effective with appropriate remedial measures. Building sustainably and naturally makes economic sense and is the best approach for keeping our heritage future- proofed. Native is a member of the Green Register, the AECB (Association for Environment Conscious Building) and the ASBP (Alliance for Sustainable Building Products).
