York Handmade are now established as one of the leading manufacturers of high quality bespoke bricks which are particularly suitable for all types of conservation involving brickwork. The company invested over £600, 000 in a new plant dedicated to the production of specials back in 2007 and it has proved to be a very good investment as we now have the capacity to produce quality bespoke special bricks in quantity.
Amongst the schemes which the company has supplied in recent years are Dumfries House Queen Elizabeth Garden in Scotland which not only involves bricks for the restoration of the walled garden but also the bricks for a folly as its centrepiece known as The Belvedere.
This project won 2015 award at the annual Brick Awards for the Best Outdoor Space and was phrased by the judges as being a worthy winner in other categories as well. Other projects of which the company is proud are recently completed Highgate School Junior School in North London, The Shard Arcade and also several projects in North Yorkshire involving restoration work on period homes including Broughton Hall near Skipton and The Walled Garden at Burton Constable. The company can also offer technical advice if necessary regarding the design and use of special pieces.
